Julius Caesar is the ruler of the Roman Empire, the main antagonist of the Asterix franchise and often acts as such in the Asterix games. He is Asterix's archenemy. He always attempts to conquer the Gaulish village and ultimately fails.
Caesar has an adoptive son Brutus, who wants to kill him in order to take over the Roman Empire. Some centurions also want to take his place.
Asterix: Caesar’s Challenge[]
In one of the launch cutscenes Caesar claims the Gauls cannot roam around the Empire.
If a player wins, he will be angry. If none of the players win, he will mock them for losing.
Asterix: The Gallic War[]
In Asterix: The Gallic War Caesar sends troops to other provinces and, if they belong to the player, tries to reclaim them.
He has a HUD icon but no model or cinematic appearance.
Asterix & Obelix XXL[]
According to the Roman spy and Getafix, Caesar and his troops attacked the Gaulish village by surprise and captured everyone (except Asterix and Obelix who were in the forest at the time).
The player faces Caesar in Rome. He first resides in a throne behind the divided arena, and stands up when he sees the Gaulish heroes arrive on the other side. After the legions in the arena are defeated, Caesar goes to the boss battle arena, where he controls two machines of war. After they are destroyed and Vitalstatistix's shield bearers are freed, Caesar admits his defeat.
Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission Las Vegum[]

The Caesar clones featured during the final Roman battle in the SeizeUs Palace
Caesar and his army ambush and capture three druids with the help of centurion Larry Craft, disguised as Getafix.
When Asterix and Obelix with Sam Shieffer enter Las Vegum, Larry Craft delivers the news to Caesar. Caesar orders Larry Craft to stop Asterix and Obelix, but with no success.
Before the final boss battle, the player fights an army of Caesar's clones.
In the final cutscene, Caesar is told by Getafix to order his fleet to leave Armorica (misspelled as "Amorica" in the subtitles). Caesar questions how he will do that when he conveniently gets interrupted by an Internetus messenger. He agrees to order his fleet to leave via the messenger and walks away.
In the PSP version's multiplayer mode Caesar is a playable character.
Asterix at the Olympic Games[]
Caesar is a minor character in Asterix at the Olympic Games.
Brutus tries to assassinate him, then teams up with his live-action counterpart to help him assassinate live-action Caesar, but fails both times. Neither versions of Caesar can be seen in cutscenes but he is heard angrily shouting Brutus' name.
Caesar can be seen in the Olympic arena watching the games.
Asterix: The Mansions of the Gods[]
Caesar is supposedly the main antagonist of the game, since the Mansions are built at his order to fulfill the plan of converting the Gauls to Roman culture, but he is shown only in the beginning cutscene and never appears again.
Asterix and Friends[]
Caesar sends legions to the player's village from time to time. The player can look at the bar in the top middle of the screen to see how soon the legion will arrive and see the Resistance Level. The bar also has a dynamic portrait of Caesar, whose facial expression changes depending on the player's Resistance Level: the higher the level, the angrier he looks. The final portrait appears when the player reaches Resistance level 5 and higher.
Asterix & Obelix XXL 3: The Crystal Menhir[]
Caesar captured Avina Gandir in order to rule over Thule. After Asterix and Obelix confront Caesar in Rome, he attempts to get the Crystal Menhir by sending legions of Romans to fight them. After the battle, Marcus Ginantonicus shows up and manages to steal the Crystal Menhir and freeze both Asterix and Obelix with it. Caesar also gets frozen by Marcus Ginantonicus using the Crystal Menhir, who wants to replace him. After Ginantonicus is defeated in the final battle, the Gauls unfreeze Caesar and he is grateful to them. He asks how he can thank them, and agrees to send his people out of Thule and never visit it again.
